In Reply To No, the current levels of CO2 require more trees. (n/m) posted by BigTDogg (MA) on February 10, 2011 at 11:50 AM

Message these people engineer scams to swindle the world economy out of trillions of dollars for negligible "gains" with "green" jobs / cars / economies. If they spent 1% of that money and time and energy on planting some trees, we would have more oxygen and less "pollution" (CO2). Question: Was CO2 a pollutant before humans existed? Will it be a pollutant after we are gone?

The problem is that the planet is on a natural course that was set billions of years ago and has been altered over time from celestial mechanics (cycles of the sun, meteor strikes, planetary collisions, etc); large scale, unfathomable, uncalculable events far beyond our control. The planet has been "global warming" and "global cooling" for literally billions of years.

Personally I see benefits from a slightly warmer planet. There will still be snow and ice to enjoy, while having more water, more climates will open up to farming and ranching which means significantly lower food prices and ends to famine, droughts, and starvations which means less energy consumption on logistics. Imagine the places now that consume and dont produce will then be able to produce and sustain themselves. Think tundras, savannahs, deserts, etc. Life thrives in warm temperatures and struggles in cold. If the planet becomes colder then we start losing ground that produces food now, driving prices and demand up higher and higher until eventually economies collapse.

As a human I welcome a warmer planet and a colder planet scares me, as much as I personally love winter time with snow and ice and all that.
